- Founded in 2018, Where It All Began is a trading name of English Safari CC. We are the largest locally-based adventure travel company focused on South Africa and Southern Africa. A team of three permanent staff, (Frances Glyn-Owen, Ann-Lee Posthumous, and Philip Rendel), we offer ethical and sustainable tailor-made adventurous journeys across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Our cycling journeys are all itinerant and can all be adapted to fully guided, partially guided or fully independent. Every journey we design is created from scratch and can easily be combined with other adventure activities we offer and which this part of the world is famous for such as sailing, diving, snorkelling, hiking and 4x4. We are formally accredited by Fair Trade in Tourism, Travelife and Responsible Travel.com. On all our journeys, our tour operators and accommodation providers are themselves also formally accredited or alternatively are black-owned and/or go the extra mile to care for people and planet in this most beautiful and fragile of countries. When our clients travel with us, they are assured that their travel spend is directly supporting local African companies and individuals that offer sustainable products and services.
