Cambodia Cycle Tour, biking closer to the kingdoms culture

Let the kingdom of Cambodia, with its impactful history, rich culture and stunning landscapes, cast its mesmerising spell over you. Get ready for your cycling adventure vacation today and join us to cycle tour Cambodia.

Sandwiched between Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia is a melting pot of South East Asian culture, scenery and cuisine. The local people are friendly, happy and gentle. Having struggled through years of bloodshed, poverty and political instability they have a seemingly unbreakable spirit, infectious optimism and they have prevailed with their smiles intact. Cambodia is one of those places that you come away from full of admiration and affection for the people.

In Cambodia we set out to create a ‘laid-back’ cycle tour with predominantly flat riding, laced with loads of interesting things to see and do and finishing each day with tasty food and great accommodation. Our tour begins in Siem Reap in the north and as we wind our way south we get all that and more. We explore the famous Angkor Wat temples by bike, check out floating villages, ride a bamboo train on abandoned train tracks and bike through a time-less landscape of dazzling rice paddies and swaying palms.

Electric bikes and pedal bikes are available to hire for this cycle tour!

The Biking Lowdown:

We ride 25-75km per day; a total distance of 430km spread over 10 days of biking. We cycle on a range of paved and unpaved roads, dirt tracks and village trails on mostly flat terrain. The surface can be rough and pot-holed at times so a mountain-bike fitted with low profile tyres is the perfect bike for this tour. The trip is suited to all levels of bikers, we have E Bikes and pedal bikes available so you can choose your challenge!

Itinerary:

DAY 1: Meet at our starting hotel in Siem Reap

Please plan to arrive no later than mid-afternoon to allow transfer to our hotel in time for the tour
start. Meet with your tour leaders & fellow bikers at 5pm in the bar area at the hotel for your
pre-departure meeting and first meal together.

DAY 2: Cycle Cambodia stilt villages - 42km

We follow a series of small roads through rural villages to the shore of Tonle Sap Lake. With
huge seasonal water level variations, Tonle Sap is home to amazing floating and stilt villages
which we visit and explore by boat. After lunch we ride back to Siem Reap.

DAY 3: Pedal past ancient temples - 28km

Departing Siem Reap, we ride out past some of the famous Angkor temples then along back roads and trails to a working silk farm where we learn how a worm can produce a silk scarf! We finish the day with a vehicle transfer to Battambang. (3-4 Hours depending on traffic)

DAY 4: Explore Cambodian villages by bike - 25-30km

In the morning, we join a village industries bike tour where we visit some community projects
where we gain an understanding of local village life, meet local families and learn about their traditional livelihoods. Free afternoon to explore this historic colonial town.

DAY 5: Ride between regimented rice paddies - 25km

After taking a vehicle transfer (1-2 hours) to the town of Kampong Chanang we ride some back routes through the rice fields, check out hand made pottery and crafts and visit a floating village.

DAY 6: Back roads of Cambodia - 65-75km

A great day to stretch out the legs with a longer ride out to Oudong, the historical capital of Cambodia.

DAY 7: Discover the views from Oudong Mountain - 70km

We start the day with a walk up 509 steps up to see the view from the top of Oudong Mountain, then cycle in an ever-changing rural landscape to Kampong Speu City.

DAY 8: Enjoy the shade of a lush forest park - 46km

Cambodia continues to surprise and amaze as we ride to a forest park where you can explore some of the park in your own time or chill out by the pool!

DAY 9: Bike to the Bay of Kampong Som - 52-72km

From our forest park accommodation, we roll along through relatively unpopulated countryside cycling to the town of Kampot, the home of the famous Kampot peppercorn.

DAY 10: Explore Kampot & Sunset River Cruise

A free day to explore some fascinating history of the ex-French colonial town. In the evening we take a sunset cruise on the river.

DAY 11: Cycle coastal Cambodia - 30km

It’s just a short ride out of Kampot to a small fishing village who have instigated a mangrove reforestation project. Swapping our bikes for a boat we head out along the coast and spend some time planting mangrove trees and learning about the value of mangroves on this fragile coastline. Back on our bikes it’s on to a once famous and busy coastal resort town of the colonial era.

DAY 12: Leisurely pedalling to Phnom Penh - 46km

Our last ride of the tour takes us away from the ocean and back out into rural farming landscapes. After lunch a vehicle transfer (3-4 hours) takes us to the capital city, Phnom Penh for a last night out together.

DAY 13: Farewell

Our final breakfast together. Either stay on and relax or explore Phnom Penh, or if you are flying out today we can help you arrange your transfer to the airport.
